first tracks

Last winter was frustrating... we had little snow here in dolomites.
This year it seems to get better.
The whole last week it snowed and we had half a meter here on our terrace...

So saturday, november 3, 2012 we started here from home to go ski touring.
We started in "landro" and climbed the "Cristallino di Misurina".

After a nasty hike thru the bushes we arrived at the base of the channel and went on.
We reached the top of "forcella cristallino" in the afternoon. For the last 100 meters of climb we had to pass 1,3 meter of fresh powder snow. A lot of work, but super funny...
Yeah a lot of fun, the most important thing!

We putted our jackets on and had an epic run down the fresh snow.

Life is so good!

ZDF Herbstshow

In mid september me and Reini Kleindl were invited at a german TV Show "ZDF Herbstshow am Kalterer See".

With this words "ZDF" describes the show.
The moderator, Andrea Kiewel also welcomed to her show "die Kastelruther Spatzen, Rosanna Rocci, Maria Levin, The Overtones", etc.

For the show me and Reini set up a small slackline.
We made some demonstrations, we talked about safety in highlining and reported about our project on "tre cime di lavaredo" in summer 2011.

It was a different experience from what we're used to,
but also a great opportunity to promote our sport...

They showed it on TV, October 28, 2012, together with some clips from our "highline tre cime" video.

Today I m sitting in our cabin, making beanies... Last days it snowed, so it s the perfect time for doing that...

IMS and slacklining on mt. piana

After the Muztagh Ata Expedition we (me, Tamara Lunger, Paul Guschelbauer) participated together with Matthias Aberer at Gore-Tex experience tour: "Win your presentation at the IMS"

Our project got the most votes on facebook and got the price. Thanks to the fb community for voting!!

"Muztaghata x 3"

June 2012. Tamara Lunger (climber), Armin Holzer (slackliner) and Paul Guschlbauer (paraglider pilot) met at the base camp of Muztagh Ata in China. Three people with three different passions. Yet all three had the same goal: to reach the summit of the mountain, each in their own way.

October, 25, 2012, 6pm
I presented the first time the small teaser from our highline meeting here on monte piana, and then I showed the video "Slack 5000", me and Alessandro d'Emilia higlining at 4950 meters of altitude.

After our presentation the "Pou brothers" started... it was a really impressive presentation, and epic projects...

The day after, the production crew of next years 3D documentary project came here to misurina.
They wanted to test the octacopter, drone and make some filming withe the 3D system. We went to monte piana and rigged 3 lines for the test, 55, 25, and 12 meters long.

Finally we were highlining all together. Me, Alessandro d'Emilia, Aldo Valmassoi and Niccoló Zarattini.

Two epic days spent with my friends...

looking for new spots...

I will make part in a 3D documentary cine film about the dolomites...

Yesterday finally it was THE DAY...

I went to "Gröden - gardena" to fly over the dolomites in a helicopter.
Gabriel Kostner, the pilot showed us some really interesting places from the war, which you can see just from the helicopter... so rad!!

The plan was it to get some impressions and ideas for the movie. And we went to the spot I had already choosen for the filming in 3D... Filmer and producer were just stoked about the spot, head shaking when I told them my plan...
After this I had the possibility to check out some other spots I was already looking for a long time...
I just had to say: "can you bring me there?", and he did it... :)
We were floating just a few meters over the rock, and I was able to check out the rock quality, points for ancors, etc..

After a very long flight over and thru the amazing canyons, peaks and valleys we landed again in "gröden - gardena" and had it to the cinema in "Kaltern" where they presented some helicopter images in 3D, filmed with a brand new system...
My mouth stayed wide open.... I had never seen something like this in cinema...

A unique day, full of new impressions, ideas and dreams... life is good!

First post...

…the higher somebody climbs, the farther he sees. The one who sees farther, dreams longer…
(Walter Bonatti, alpinist)

This quotation from Walter Bonatti inspired me to dream of new things…

At the beginning of last winter Massimo Braconi from Belluno proposed that I come to
China with him. He wanted to climb with skis, the second highest peak of the Pamir Mountains
(7546m), Muztagh Ata. Initially I hesitated because I hadn’t had any experience at these high
altitudes, but then I saw it as a chance to learn new things and my decision was soon made.

A lot of people said that I should make a blog and share the adventures of the A - TEAM with other people...
I had two goals that were more important to me than a blog... walking a highline in thin air and walking a highline longer than 100 meter. Right in time, before the winter started I made it...
and my first post is online...

I had an awesome summer, highlining with my friends Alessandro d'Emilia and Aldo Valmassoi...
We started on the cristallo, then monte popena with Reini, we went to china, and had a lot of fun on the monte piana, just behind the cabin...

I also went to visit Reini Kleindl. Together with Peter Auer we rigged a highline at "Traunstein Massiv", the result was "conquest of paradise" ca.87m. Me and Reini walked it and enjoyed the beautiful view down to the "Traunsee".

I had it back in the dolomites and a week later Kemeter Mich and Peter Auer came by, and another new line was done...

Together with Ale, I also went on the "Arzalpenkopf" in sesto, filming with "Geos Film".
And then in september we had a big highline meeting here on monte piana, with 12 different highlines from 6 to 92 meter lenght, and more than 50 highliners. It was nice to meet new people and old friends, walking highlines every day, relaxing in the hammock...

Longline training, double webbing, and a lot of sag... Kemeter Mich came by another time and had it up the grande cima with Ale and Niccoló Zarattini, to repeat the "SunRice" line 21,5m... I had to stay in valley, but I had time to rig 212 meter aeon and send it at 10kn, onsight...
Mich send "SunRice" onsight just with an ankle leash, Niccoló made the half man... We were really stoked...

5 minutes from my parents house away, I found a great spot... 104m long, 45m high...
In the middle of october, together with Aldo I set up a heavy system with two webbings and had 5 days training on it... walked ca. 60m on it, but more was just mind breaking... So hard to stay focused, and it was just 45 meters high... Walking such a long highline hundrets meters off the ground, must be insane... My friends Aldo Valmassoi and Ale d'Emilia motivated me and had also some impressive walks!!  it was just awesome!
Then Reini Kleindl came by and we riged his setup...
The first day we had good crosses and it was really inspiring to see Reini walking this line... I could really see his experience for longlines... We had a lot of fun on this line... Enjoyed every step!!
Day 2 training on the beast I got the flow and walked it... Half man...
The illusion became reality and everything became one...

"Homeline ++" is the name of the line. Just a 5 minutes walk from my parents house away, an epic spot for good training. It was nice to have the possibility of relaxing at home, cooking "Speckknödel" for lunch and having a easy access.

The day after I had my first flight in a paraglider down the monte elmo... I was flying alone, followed by a flight instructor.

Epic days... unique experiences...

thanks to all my friends and family... and a really special one to reini, ale, aldo, nico, le lepri, mich, daniel, brac, ho, matz, harry, hubert, valle, cri, jojo, alain, sonja, paul, brd sexten, cumulus fly and all the other I forgot... + thanks to the sponsors
